About BitLife
What would you do with a second life? BitLife, from Candywriter, hands you a randomly generated person at birth and lets you steer them through school, jobs, relationships, health scares and questionable decisions until the very end. Everything is text-based, and that simplicity is the point: the game works like a choose-your-own-story book that remembers every choice and piles consequences on top of each other.
Some players chase a clean life with a doctor's salary and a happy family. Others see how fast they can end up in prison or broke in a casino. Stats for happiness, health, smarts and looks shift constantly, and random events keep each run surprising. Sessions can last two minutes or two hours, which makes it a perfect break-time game.
How to play BitLife
You begin as a newborn with random parents, a home country and starting stats. Pressing the Age button moves you forward one year, and each year brings events you respond to with a choice. Between birthdays, open the Activities, Occupation, Relationships and Assets menus to study, exercise, date, apply for jobs, buy property or take risks. Your choices raise or lower your health, happiness, smarts and looks, and they shape the opportunities that show up later. The life ends when your character dies, and you can then continue as one of your children.

Tips & strategy
- Visit the library and study during school years. Higher smarts open the door to university and well-paid careers later on.
- Hit the gym regularly as you get older, since health decays with age and exercise slows the decline.
- Keep an eye on happiness. A low score makes some events go badly, and simple activities like vacations or time with family help.
- Save money before buying a house or car, because loans and upkeep can drain an average salary fast.
- If you want to test a risky path, try it in a throwaway life so a good run stays intact.
Game features

- Hundreds of careers, events and choices
- Generational play through your children

BitLife FAQ
Is there a way to win in BitLife?
There is no single win condition. You set your own goals, such as becoming famous, getting rich, living past 100 or completing a specific career path. The game also has ribbons awarded at the end of each life that summarize how you lived, which gives many players a target to chase on their next run.
Can I continue playing after my character dies?
Yes. If your character had children, you can carry on as one of them and inherit part of the family money. This lets you build a family legacy over several generations. If there are no heirs, you simply start a brand new life with a fresh random character.
Does BitLife work on school laptops and phones?
BitLife is menu-driven, so it works well with a mouse, trackpad or touchscreen. On Classroom 6X it runs right in the browser without an install, making it easy to open on a Chromebook between classes and pick up where you left off, as long as your browser keeps its saved data.
