Block Blast
Place the pieces, clear the lines, and chain combos before the grid fills up.
About Block Blast
Block Blast takes the satisfying line-clearing feeling of falling-block games and turns it into a calm, turn-based puzzle. Instead of dropping pieces from above, you receive a set of three shapes and drag them anywhere onto an 8x8 grid. Fill a full row or column and it vanishes, freeing space for the next set. The whole game fits on one screen, and every decision stays visible in front of you.
Without a timer, the pressure comes from planning. Pieces cannot be rotated, so an awkward long bar or big square can suddenly have nowhere to go. Clearing several lines at once, or clearing on consecutive turns, triggers combo bonuses that send your score soaring. It is easy to pick up for a minute and hard to put down for an hour.
How to play Block Blast
Each turn you get three block shapes below the board. Drag each one onto the grid in any open spot where it fits. When a row or column becomes completely filled, it clears and you earn points. Once all three pieces are placed, a new set appears. You cannot rotate pieces, so think about where each shape will fit before committing. Clearing multiple lines with one placement or clearing lines on back-to-back turns builds combos for extra points. The game ends when none of the remaining pieces can fit anywhere on the board, so always keep space available for large shapes.

Tips & strategy
- Keep a 3x3 area open whenever possible, since the big square piece is the one that usually ends a game.
- Place all three pieces with a plan; the order you drop them in can decide whether a line clears.
- Aim to clear rows and columns together in one move to trigger larger combo bonuses.
- Avoid leaving single isolated empty cells, which only tiny pieces can fill.
- Fill the board from the edges inward so the center stays flexible for awkward shapes.

Block Blast FAQ
Can you rotate pieces in Block Blast?
No. Every block has to be placed in the orientation it is given, which is a big part of the challenge. Because of that, you need to think ahead about where long bars, L-shapes and large squares will fit, and keep matching spaces open on the board so you are never stuck with an unplaceable piece.
How do combos work?
A combo happens when you clear more than one line with a single placement or clear lines on consecutive turns. Each combo multiplies your points, so setting up several nearly complete rows and columns and finishing them together is the best way to post a high score.
Is Block Blast playable at school on Classroom 6X?
Yes. The game runs in the browser and loads quickly, so it works well on Chromebooks and school laptops. It uses simple drag-and-drop controls with a mouse, trackpad or touchscreen, and because there is no timer you can pause and return to your move whenever you like.
