About Block Breaker

Block Breaker carries on the tradition of Breakout and Arkanoid, one of the oldest and most satisfying formulas in arcade gaming. You control a paddle at the bottom of the screen and bounce a ball upward into rows of colorful bricks. Each hit cracks or destroys a block, and the goal is to clear every last one without letting the ball slip past you.

The pleasure comes from control. Where the ball strikes your paddle changes its angle, so good players steer the ball into corners and behind rows to set off chain reactions. Some bricks need several hits, and power-ups dropping from broken blocks can widen your paddle, add extra balls or speed things up. It is simple, tactile and endlessly replayable.

How to play Block Breaker

Launch the ball and keep it bouncing between your paddle and the bricks above. Move the paddle left and right to catch the ball each time it comes down. Striking the ball with the edge of the paddle sends it off at a sharper angle, while the center returns it more directly. Destroy every brick to clear the stage and move on. Some blocks are tougher and need multiple hits. Catch falling power-ups for bonuses, but avoid chasing one if it means missing the ball. Lose the ball too many times and the game ends.

Tips & strategy

  1. Aim to tunnel through one side of the wall; once the ball gets above the bricks, it can clear many of them on its own.
  2. Use the paddle edges to change the ball's angle deliberately instead of just keeping it alive.
  3. Never abandon the ball to catch a power-up that is falling far from it.
  4. Multi-ball power-ups are best when many bricks remain, so focus on keeping at least one ball safe.
  5. When only a few bricks are left, slow down and line up precise angles rather than hoping for a lucky bounce.

Block Breaker FAQ

How do I control where the ball goes?

The spot where the ball hits your paddle sets its outgoing angle. Hits near the center send it straight up, while hits near either edge push it off at a sharp diagonal. Moving the paddle so the ball lands on the correct side is the key skill for aiming at specific bricks.

What do power-ups do in Block Breaker?

Power-ups drop from some destroyed bricks and can help or hinder you. Common effects include a wider paddle, extra balls or changes to ball speed. Grab the ones that help when it is safe, but keeping the main ball in play is always the priority over any bonus.

Can Block Breaker run on a school computer?

Yes. It is a lightweight HTML5 game that starts instantly in a web browser, so it runs well on Chromebooks and older school laptops. On Classroom 6X there is nothing to download, and you can use either the mouse, keyboard or a touchscreen to move the paddle.
