About Five Nights at Freddy's 2

Scott Cawthon followed up his breakout horror hit just a few months later with a sequel that stripped away the one thing players relied on. In Five Nights at Freddy's 2, the security office has no doors. Instead, you have a flashlight, an empty Freddy head to hide behind, and a music box that keeps one especially dangerous animatronic at bay.

The cast is bigger this time, with shiny toy versions of the original animatronics joined by the withered classics and the unsettling Marionette. Juggling vents, hallways and the music box turns every night into a frantic balancing act, and the tension builds hour by hour until the clock finally reads 6 AM.

How to play Five Nights at Freddy's 2

You work the night shift at a new Freddy Fazbear's Pizza and must survive from midnight until 6 AM each night. Use the camera system to track animatronics as they move and to wind the music box in the Prize Corner remotely. If the music box runs down, the Puppet comes for you. Shine the flashlight down the hallway to repel some characters, and put on the Freddy mask when an animatronic enters the office or vents so it loses interest. The flashlight has limited battery, so use it in short bursts. Each night grows more aggressive.

Tips & strategy

  1. Wind the music box a little every time you open the cameras, rather than waiting until it is nearly empty.
  2. Put the mask on the moment you lower the monitor and see an animatronic in the office. Hesitating even briefly is usually fatal.
  3. Flash the hallway regularly to keep Foxy away, but tap the light instead of holding it to save battery.
  4. Check the vent lights on the left and right. When something is lurking there, wear the mask until it leaves.
  5. Listen for audio cues, since footsteps and vent noises often warn you before anything is visible.

Five Nights at Freddy's 2 FAQ

Why are there no doors in FNAF 2?

The sequel deliberately removed the doors to change how you defend yourself. Instead of closing them, you rely on the Freddy mask, the flashlight and careful camera use. Most animatronics are fooled by the mask, but some, like Foxy and the Puppet, need other tactics, which makes the game feel very different from the first.

What happens if the music box runs out?

When the music box winds all the way down, the Puppet leaves the Prize Corner and heads for your office. Once it starts moving, nothing can stop it, and the night is lost. Keeping the music box wound through the camera system is one of the most important habits in the game.

Is FNAF 2 on Classroom 6X suitable for a school laptop?

The browser version runs without downloads and works on most Chromebooks. It is a horror game with jump scares, so it is better suited to older players. Use headphones if you can, since sound cues are essential for survival and you will not want to startle the whole room.
