About Getaway Shootout

Getaway Shootout is a chaotic race where the finish line is a getaway vehicle and the only way to move is by hopping. Each character flops left or right with a single button, so just getting across a moving train roof becomes a hilarious struggle. Rivals are trying to reach the same car, helicopter or boat, and they are armed.

New Eich Games, the team behind Rooftop Snipers, built it around the same principle: minimal buttons, maximum mayhem. Weapons and power-ups spawn across each level, from guns to mines and other surprises, so every round turns into a scramble between racing ahead and knocking others back. Levels change constantly, from speeding trains to rooftops, keeping every round unpredictable.

How to play Getaway Shootout

Each round places you in a level with a getaway vehicle waiting somewhere on the map. Your character moves by jumping, with one key to hop left and another to hop right, so movement takes practice. Grab weapons and power-ups along the way and use them to knock opponents off course or slow them down. Watch out for moving platforms, gaps and trains that can throw you off. Reach the escape vehicle first to win the round. Take enough rounds to win the match against a friend or the CPU.

Tips & strategy

  1. Short, controlled hops beat long leaps; overshooting a platform costs more time than moving slowly.
  2. Pick up weapons whenever they are nearby. Knocking a leader back is often faster than outrunning them.
  3. Keep your character upright by alternating left and right hops when the ground is unstable.
  4. Watch the vehicle's position; some levels move it, so plan a route rather than rushing blindly.
  5. Save power-ups for the final stretch, where one hit can decide who escapes.

Game features

  • Local two-player or solo versus CPU
  • Hop-based movement with ragdoll physics

Getaway Shootout FAQ

How do you move in Getaway Shootout?

Characters do not walk. Instead, each player has one key to hop left and one to hop right, and the ragdoll physics decide how they land. Short, alternating hops give the most control. Once you get the feel for it, you can move surprisingly quickly while dodging shots and grabbing items.

Can I play Getaway Shootout alone?

Yes. In single-player mode you race against computer-controlled opponents, which is a good way to learn each level. The two-player mode lets you and a friend share one keyboard, with CPU characters filling out the rest of the field, and that is where the game becomes its funniest.

Does Getaway Shootout work on school computers?

It does. The game runs in the browser without any download, and its simple graphics work on Chromebooks and older laptops. Player 1 and Player 2 use different letter keys, so two people can share one keyboard comfortably. There are no accounts or sign-ups required to start playing.
