About Tank Trouble

Tank Trouble is the local multiplayer game that has probably caused more shouting in computer labs than any other. Two or three players each drive a tiny tank inside a top-down maze and try to blast each other. The twist is that bullets bounce off walls, so every shot can ricochet around corners, and very often right back into the tank that fired it.

Rounds are short, scores are tallied as you go, and power-ups like the laser, gatling gun, and homing missile show up to keep things unpredictable. You can also practice against the computer, but it truly shines with friends sharing a single keyboard. Nothing beats the groan when someone's own ricochet wipes them out a split second before the round ends.

How to play Tank Trouble

Each round drops every tank into a randomly generated maze. Drive around, aim, and fire bullets that bounce off walls, trying to hit an opponent without getting hit yourself. The last tank standing wins the round and earns a point. Power-ups appear on the map and replace your normal shot with something special, such as a laser beam, a rapid-fire gatling, a homing missile, or a frag bomb. Bullets fade after a few seconds, so shots are limited. Keep playing rounds and try to finish with the highest score.

Tips & strategy

  1. Bank shots off walls to hit opponents hiding around corners where direct fire cannot reach.
  2. After firing, move out of the bullet's likely return path, since ricochets are the most common way to lose.
  3. Do not spam all your shots at once; having no bullets left when an enemy turns the corner is fatal.
  4. Grab power-ups quickly, but learn how each one behaves before relying on it in a tight spot.
  5. Stay near maze junctions so you always have an escape route when bullets start bouncing.

Game features

  • Local multiplayer for up to three players
  • Ricocheting bullets in random mazes
  • Powerful pickups like lasers and missiles
  • Single-player mode against the computer

Tank Trouble FAQ

How many people can play Tank Trouble at once?

Up to three players can play on the same computer. Two use different sections of the keyboard, and the third controls a tank with the mouse. You can also play solo against a computer-controlled tank. It is ideal for friends sitting together, since everyone shares the same screen and the same chaotic maze.

What power-ups are in Tank Trouble?

Common power-ups include the laser, which fires a fast bouncing beam, the gatling gun for rapid bursts, the homing missile that follows targets, the frag bomb that bursts into shrapnel, and the death ray. Each replaces your normal bullet temporarily, and knowing how they bounce is important so you do not hit yourself.

Can I play Tank Trouble on a school computer?

Yes. Tank Trouble runs right in the browser on Chromebooks and school desktops with no installation. It uses very little processing power, so it loads fast even on older machines. Because it supports several players on one keyboard, it is a favorite for playing with classmates during free time.
